23/02/2017 Lieut Joseph Lamont Bamford Second Lieutenant Joseph L Bamford, Royal Flying Corps, son of Mr Joseph Bamford J.P., The Arcade, Kilrea. Before joining the colours, Lieutenant Bamford was on the staff of J B Ferguson Ltd, the well-known Belfast firm of automobile engineers. He entered Commander Locker-Lampson's Armoured Car Squadron in January 1915 and served with that unit in France and Belgium. He afterwards attained a commission in the Royal Scots Fusiliers, and later transferred to the General List for service with the Royal Flying Corps. He was recently awarded the Croix de Guerre by the President of the French Republic.
