Summary
Manus Cushley was the youngest son of Patrick and Jane Cushley. He was born on 16th February 1888. He was the youngest of at least eleven children, all born in the Bellaghy area. Sometime between 1901 and 1911 the family changed their name to Costello. Manus was a tailor. Manus Costello was living in Omagh when he enlisted in Londonderry. Private Manus Alexander Costello was serving with the 7th Battalion of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he was killed in action on the 7th June 1917 near Ypres.
La Laiterie Military Cemetery is located 7 Kms south of Ieper town centre on the Kemmelseweg (N331), connecting Ieper to Kemmel. From Ieper town centre the Kemmelseweg is reached via the Rijselsestraat, through the Lille Gate (Rijselpoort) and straight on towards Armentieres (N336). 900 metres after the crossroads is the right hand turning onto the Kemmelseweg made prominent by a level crossing. The cemetery is located on the right hand side of the road, 5 Kms after joining the Kemmelseweg.
