Lance Corporal George O'Neill was serving with the 2nd Battalion of the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) when he died a week before Christmas on Tuesday 8th December 1917. Lance Corporal George O'Neill is buried in Wimereux Communal Cemetery in western France. Wimereux formed an important hospital centre, which suggests he died of wounds received.
