George O’Neill was born in Maghera. George O’Neill was for a time a Private with the Royal Scots Fusiliers (No. 13732). Lance Corporal George O'Neill was serving with the 2nd Battalion of the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) when he died a week before Christmas on Tuesday 8th December 1917. Lance Corporal George O'Neill is buried in Wimereux Communal Cemetery in western France. Wimereux formed an important hospital centre, which suggests he died of wounds received.

Summary      
Wimereux is a small town situated about 5 kilometres north of Boulogne. From the centre of Boulogne take the A16 to Calais and come off at Junction 4. Take the road to Wimereux north, D242, for approximately 2 kilometres, following the road through the roundabout. Take the first turn on the left immediately after the roundabout and the Cemetery lies approximately 200 metres down this road on the left hand side. The Commonwealth War Graves are situated to the rear of the Communal Cemetery.
