From the Mid Ulster Mail dated Saturday 25th November 1916: Draperstown
Mr Andrew Conway, Draperstown, has received official intimation that his son, Lance Corporal Patrick Conway, Royal Dublin Fusiliers, was killed in action on 23rd October last, and the sad event occurring so soon after the death of Private Joseph Conway, Royal Irish Fusiliers, brother of the deceased, who died from wounds on 6th July last, is extremely distressing. Prior to joining the Army the deceased has resided with his parents at Draperstown where he was very popular, and his death is deeply regretted. After the outbreak of war he enlisted, being at first attached to the Irish Brigade with which he served at the front for several months. Having been wounded and invalided home, on his return to the front he was transferred to the 2nd Battalion Royal Dublin Fusiliers, with which regiment he served till his death in action on 23rd October. He was an efficient and brave soldier, cheery and bright under all circumstances. Much sympathy is felt for Mr Conway and his wife and family in their double bereavement.
Lance Corporal Patrick Conway has no known grave and is commemorated on the Menin Gate in Ypres.
