05/10/2016 The relatives of L/Cpl James Hamilton. Royal Irish Rifles of Ballymatoskerty, Toomebridge, have been informed that he was killed in action on 12th August, 1917.
05/10/2016 From the Ballymena Observer dated 24th August 1917:
05/10/2016 The CWGC record that Corporal James Hamilton was the son of John Hamilton.
05/10/2016 Corporal Hamilton has no known grave and is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial in Ypres.
05/10/2016 Corporal James Hamilton was serving with the 11th Battalion of the Royal Irish Rifles when he was killed in action in Flanders on Friday 10th August 1917. He was 20 years old.
05/10/2016 James Hamilton enlisted in Lisburn.
05/10/2016 The 1911 has a possible listing of James as age 14, living with the Cameron family at house 20 in Ballymatoskerty, Toome, County Antrim. He was still at school.
05/10/2016 James Hamilton was the son of John Hamilton. He was born about 1897 in Duneane, midway between Toome and Randalstown.
