Summary      
Alexander Hamill was the second youngest son of John and Nancy Hamill. Alexander Hamill was born on 11th May 1896 in Grange, a few miles north east of Toome. Alexander was one of eight sons, with seven surviving. They were a farming family. Rifleman Alexander Hamill was serving with the 20th Battalion of the Royal Irish Rifles when he died in the Victoria Hospital in Belfast on 21st April 1916, aged 21. Rifleman Alexander Hamill is buried in the same plot in Grange Corner Presbyterian Churchyard in County Antrim as his younger brother, Private Sheppard Hamill.

Alexander Hamill was the second youngest son of John and Nancy Hamill. John Hamill married Nancy Nicholl on 16th January 1883 in the district of Ballymena.
Alexander Hamill was born on 11th May 1896 in Grange, a few miles north east of Toome. Alexander was one of eight children, all male, with seven surviving.

The 1901 census lists Alexander as age 5, living with the family at house 9 in Grange Park, Ballyscullion, County Antrim. They were a farming family.
The 1911 census lists Alexander as age 14, living with the family at house 2 in Taylorstown, Ballyscullion. Alexander had left school and was working as a farm labourer. His father is listed as a general labourer.
Alexander enlisted at Randalstown.
Rifleman Alexander Hamill was serving with the 20th Battalion of the Royal Irish Rifles when he died in the Victoria Hospital in Belfast on Friday 21st April 1916, aged 19.
