Summary      
Peter Conway was the only son of Patrick and Elizabeth Conway. He had a twin sister, Mary. He had four sisters in all. After his father died, the family lived in Aghacarnaghan, near Toome. Gunner Peter Conway was serving with ‘V’ 8th Trench Mortar Batter, Royal Garrison Artillery, when he died on Saturday 27th April 1918.

Peter Conway was the only son of Patrick and Elizabeth Conway. Patrick Conway married Elizabeth Beatson / Bateson on 17th January 1893 in the district of Antrim.
Peter Conway was born on 1st April 1893 in Aghacarnaghan, Toomebridge. He had a twin sister, Mary. He had four sisters in all.
Family: Patrick Conway, Lizzie Conway, Peter Conway (born 1st April 1893), Mary Conway (born 1st April 1893), Catherine Kate Conway (born 3rd January 1895), Ellen Nellie Conway (born 15th May 1897), Elizabeth Lizzie Conway (born 3rd August 1899).
The 1901 census lists Peter as age 8, living with the family at house 1 in Derryhollagh, Cranfield, County Antrim. His father was a farm labourer.
The 1911 census lists Peter as age 18 living with the family at house 8 in Aghacarnaghan, Cargin, County Antrim. His father had died and the family were now living with Peter’s grandfather, James Beatson. Peter was a farm servant.
Medal card
The medal card of Gunner Peter Conway states that he served with the 3rd Lahore Division, Indian Ammunition Division, of the Royal Garrison Artillery.
Gunner Peter Conway was serving with ‘V’ 8th Trench Mortar Batter, Royal Garrison Artillery, when he died on Saturday 27th April 1918.
From the Mid Ulster Mail dated 18th May 1918: Toome
Mrs Patrick Conway, Aughacarnaghan, has been notified of the death in action of her only son, Driver Peter Conway, Royal Field Artillery. Driver Conway, who enlisted prior to the war, has been on active service since the outbreak of hostilities.
Gunner Conway has no known grave and is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
The CWGC record Gunner Peter Conway as the only son of Elizabeth Conway of Aghacarnaghan, Toomebridge, County. Antrim, and of the late Patrick Conway.
