Robert James Kennedy was the second son of William and Sarah Kennedy. Robert was born in Kilrea about 1894. Robert Kennedy enlisted in Glasgow in the spring of 1917. Private Robert Kennedy was serving with the 7th Battalion of the Cameron Highlanders when he was killed in action on Sunday 10th February 1918.

Robert’s younger brother, Able Seaman Perry Kennedy, served with the Royal Navy and survived the war.
