Summary
William Gilmore was born in Garvagh about 1891. He lived for a time in Coleraine before coming to live in Drumane, Kilrea. William enlisted in Kilrea shortly after the outbreak of war. He was with the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers for a time (No 19145). Private William Gilmore then became part of the 2nd Garrison Battalion of the Royal Irish Fusiliers. Following the battalion’s return to England from Salonika in November 1916, Private Gilmore was admitted to Manchester Royal Infirmary where he died of illness on Monday 22nd January 1917.

Private W Gilmore is buried in Manchester Southern Cemetery.
There is a Private William Gilmore listed on the WW1 Roll of Honour in Bellaghy Masonic Lodge.
