Summary      
Alexander Dixon was the only son of Alexander and Margaret Dixon. He was born in Draperstown 1st May 1898. Alexander’s father was a railway guard. They were living in Draperstown with their mother-in-law, Margaret Lyle. Alexander’s sister Violet was born in Draperstown, so the family had only moved to Ballycastle after September 1910. Alexander enlisted in Ballymoney. Rifleman Alexander Dixon was serving with the 12th Battalion of the Royal Irish Rifles when he was killed in action on 14th February 1917 near Ypres. He was 18 years old.

Alexander Dixon was the only son of Alexander and Margaret Dixon. Alexander Dickson married Margaret Lyle on 24th November 1894 in the parish of Magherafelt.
The spelling of the surname changes from Dickson to Dixon depending on the documentation. The CWGC spelling is Dixon, which will be used throughout.
Alexander Dixon was born in Draperstown 1st May 1898. The family had moved there from Magherafelt after the birth of their first child, Sarah.
The 1901 census lists Alexander as age 3 living with the family at house 14 in Moyheeland, Draperstown, Londonderry. Alexander’s father was a railway guard. They were living with their mother-in-law, Margaret Lyle.
Family: Alexander Dixon, Margaret Dixon, Sarah Dixon (born 5th January 1896), Alexander Dixon (born 1st May 1898), Margaret Elizabeth Dixon (born 22nd August 1900), Violet Dixon (born 23rd September 1910).
The 1911 census lists Alexander as age 12 living with the family at house 27 in Castle Street, Ballycastle, Antrim. Violet was born in Draperstown, so the family had only moved to Ballycastle after September 1910.
Alexander Dixon enlisted in Ballymoney.

Rifleman Alexander Dixon was serving with the 12th Battalion of the Royal Irish Rifles when he was killed in action on 14th February 1917 near Ypres. He was 18 years old.
Rifleman Alexander Dixon is buried in St. Quentin Cabaret Military Cemetery, located ten kilometres south of Ypres town centre.
