Summary
Alexander Leacock was the son of John and Mary Anne Leacock. Alexander Sandy Leacock was born in Ballinascreen, County Londonderry on 18th March 1885. The family were farmers who lived in Strawmore. Private Alexander Leacock, was wounded at the Somme in July 1916. Lance Corporal Alexander Leacock was serving with the 10th Battalion of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he was killed in action in France and Flanders on Saturday 20th January 1917.

Alexander Leacock was the son of John and Mary Anne Leacock. John Leacock married Mary Anne Hanna on 16th February 1871 in the district of Magherafelt.
Alexander Sandy Leacock was born in Ballinascreen, County Londonderry on 18th March 1885.

Alexander signed the Ulster Covenant in Draperstown in 1912. He gave his address as Strawmore.
Alexander enlisted in Donegal Town.
Private Alexander Leacock, of the 10th Inniskillings, was wounded at the Somme in July 1916, and was in hospital for a time.
From the Mid Ulster Mail dated Saturday 22 July 1916:
Private Alexander Leacock, of the same battalion (10th Inniskillings), son of Mr John Leacock, Strawmore, was wounded, and is in hospital on same date (1st July).
Lance Corporal Alexander Leacock was serving with the 10th Battalion of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he was killed in action in France and Flanders on Saturday 20th January 1917. He was 31 years old.
From the Mid Ulster Mail dated 12th January 1918:
LEACOCK – In loving memory of Private alexander Leacock, of the 10th Inniskilling Fusiliers, son of John Leacock, Strawmore, Draperstown. He died fighting on behalf of his country in France on 20th January 1917.

Lance Corporal Alexander Leacock is buried in Berks Cemetery Extension. The cemetery is located twelve kilometres south of Ypres town centre.
