Further Information
William James Adams was born about 1870 in Magherafelt.
Before enlisting, William Adams had been with the Londonderry Artillery for a time.
William Adams enlisted with the Royal Artillery in Magherafelt on 8th September 1892. He was 22 years old and was a baker by trade.
It is thought William Adams married Amy Welton on 18th April 1903 in Derry.
The 1911 census lists an Amy Adams living at Island Bridge Barracks, Usher's Quay, Dublin. She had been married 9 years which correlates with existing details and also confirms that William was still alive in 1911.
Details of Sergeant William Adams death have not been located on the CWGC list so no death or burial details are currently available. It is suspected he died around 1914-1915.
A local paper from January 1916 lists a Sergeant William Adams of the Royal Field Artillery as having been killed in action.
