James Frain was the son of James and Catherine Frain. James was born about 1893 in Kilbagh, Charlestown, Co. Mayo. James Frain enlisted in Swinford. He was living in Charlestown at the time. Private James Frain was serving with the 2nd Battalion of the Connaught Rangers when he was killed in action on 28th April 1915. He was 22 years old.
