Joseph Alexander McGuckin was the youngest son of John and Mary McGuckin. Joseph was born on 4th March 1885 in Desertmartin, County Londonderry. He was one of nine children. His father was a farmer. The family lived in Desertmartin. It seems he moved to Newcastle, England. Air Mechanic 2nd Class Joseph Alexander McGuckin was serving with the Royal Air Force when he died in 30th November 1918, aged 33. Joseph is buried in Ashburton Roman Catholic Cemetery, Gosforth. Gosforth is an area close just north of Newcastle city centre.
