Francis Hudson was born in Derryglure, Castledawson on 15th October 1883. The 1901 census lists Francis as age 17, a farm servant in Derrygarve, Castledawson. Francis signed the Ulster Covenant in September 1912 in Bridgeton, Glasgow. Francis Hudson was the husband of Susanna Hudson. Private Francis Hudson was serving with the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he was killed in action on 16th May 1915.

Francis Hudson was born in Derryglure, Castledawson on 15th October 1883. GRONI lists his mother’s maiden name as Elser, but this is almost certainly incorrect as there are no marriage records for Esler/Hudson.
The 1901 census lists Francis as age 17 a farm servant at house 51 in Derrygarve, Castledawson, Londonderry for the McAllen family.
There is no record of Francis Hudson in the 1911 census so it may be assumed he had moved to Scotland by that time.

Francis signed the Ulster Covenant on 28th September 1912 in Bridgeton, Glasgow as Frank Hudson. His address was given as Derrygarve, Castledawson.
Francis Hudson enlisted in Glasgow.

Private Francis Hudson was serving with the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he was killed in action on 16th May 1915. He was 31 years old.

Private Hudson has no known grave and is commemorated on Le Touret Memorial in Richebourg, France.
