It is believed Thomas was born in Magherafelt on 24th August 1896.

The 1901 census lists Thomas as age 4 living with the family at house 140 in Maghera, County Londonderry. His mother was a widow. Mary Ann duff was a seamstress.
The 1911 census does not list Thomas as living with the family at house 12 in Market Yard, Maghera. His mother worked as an embroiderer.
Thomas Duffy enlisted in Omagh. He was living in Draperstown at the time.
Private Thomas Duffy was serving with the 7th Battalion of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers killed in action on Friday 25th Aug 1916. He was 20 years old
Private Duffy is buried in Philosophe British Cemetery, Mazingarbe. The cemetery was started in August 1915. In 1916 it was taken over by the 16th (Irish) Division, who held the Loos Salient at the time, and many of their dead were brought back to the cemetery from the front line. Philosophe lies between Bethune and Lens in France.
