Joseph Bowman was the son of Joseph and Bessie Bowman. He was born about 1896 in Dalmuir, Dunbartonshire, Scotland. Joseph’s parents moved to Drumrainey, Magherafelt. Private Joseph Bowman was serving with the 1/6 Battalion of the Gordon Highlanders when he died on 14th April 1917. He was 21 years old. Private Bowman is buried in Etaples Military Cemetery, France. Joseph’s younger brother Andrew also died in the war. He too served with the Gordon Highlanders.

Joseph Bowman was the son of Joseph and Bessie Bowman. He was born about 1896 in Dalmuir, Dunbartonshire, Scotland.
Joseph’s parents moved to Magherafelt after 1911. There is no record of them in the 1911 Irish Census.
Private Joseph Bowman was serving with the 1/6 Battalion of the Gordon Highlanders when he died on 14th April 1917. He was 21 years old.

Joseph’s younger brother Andrew also died in the war. He too served with the Gordon Highlanders. Private Andrew Bowman died a year later on 4th May 1918, aged 19.
