Summary
Robert Hutchison was born in Magherafelt. Robert enlisted in Belfast. He was living in Portadown at the time. When writing his will in December 1915, he left all to his wife Elizabeth Hutchison, who was living in South Street, Portadown at the time. Rifleman Robert Hutchison was serving with the 8th Battalion of the Royal Irish Rifles when he was killed in action in France and Flanders on Sunday 2nd July 1916.
The Thiepval Memorial will be found on the D73, next to the village of Thiepval, off the main Bapaume to Albert road (D929). Each year a major ceremony is held at the memorial on 1 July.
