Summary      
Robert Bruce was the son of William and Isabella Bruce. He was born in Lanark, Scotland on 22nd October 1893. Robert emigrated to Canada / USA. Prior to enlisting, Robert was living at 30 Cameron Avenue, Detroit, Michigan, United States of America, and was working as a Dye Repairer. Private Robert Bruce was serving with the 24th Battalion (Quebec Regiment) of the Canadian Infantry when listed as missing, presumed killed in action, on 18th September 1916. At the time of Robert’s death, his father was living in Duneane, Toomebridge.

Summary      
The Vimy Memorial overlooks the Douai Plain from the highest point of Vimy Ridge, about eight kilometres northeast of Arras on the N17 towards Lens. The memorial is signposted from this road to the left, just before you enter the village of Vimy from the south. The memorial itself is someway inside the memorial park, but again it is well signposted.
