Andrew McCartney was the son of Robert McCartney. Andrew was born about 1865 in Ballymena. He was the husband of Maggie Ross McCartney. Private Andrew McCartney was serving with the 8th Battalion of the Welsh Regiment when he died on Thursday 30th September 1915. He was 50 years old. His father was living in Portglenone at the time.
Chatby is a district on the eastern side of the city of Alexandria, between the main dual carriageway to Aboukir (known as Al Horaya) and the sea.
