Joseph Hunter was born about 1887. Joseph Hunter lived in Killyberry, Bellaghy for a time. Gunner Joseph Hunter was serving with C Battery, 78th Brigade of the Royal Field Artillery when he was killed in action on 23rd July 1916 at the Somme. He was 29 years old. He is also commemorated on the memorial in Bellaghy Presbyterian Church. He was the brother of Miss Elizabeth Hunter, of 3 Windsor Cottages, Scotstoun, Glasgow.
