Robert Leslie was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Leslie. Robert John Leslie was born in the Derrygarve, Bellaghy on 22nd April 1891. He was one of 17 children - only ten of whom were surviving by 1911. Robert’s mother died in June 1895, when he was four years old. They were a farming family. Robert emigrated to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He was employed as a stationary fireman. Robert enlisted in March 1916. Private Robert John Leslie was serving with the 15th Battalion of the Canadian Infantry when he entered hospital on the 28th and died of sickness the following day on 29th March 1917.
Aubigny-en-Artois is a village approximately 15 Kms north-west of Arras on the road (N39) to St. Pol. From the N39 turn onto the D75 towards the village of Aubigny-en-Artois. The Cemetery lies south on a road leading from the centre of the village, and the Extension is behind it.
