Johnston Stockman was the son of William and Eliza Stockman. He was born on 24th March 1885 in Tobermore. He was one of 14 children. The family lived in Drumballyhagan Clarke, Tobermore, County Londonderry. His father died when Johnston was eight. Johnston married Margaret and they lived in Blackford, Scotland. Johnston was a labourer. Johnston was called up on 15th September 1917 to the Royal Army Medical Corps (No 126204). Private Stockman was transferred to 457th Labour Corps Agricultural Company on 1st June 1918 (No 591020). He was discharged on 3rd October 1918. He was physically unfit due to nephritis and deafness. He returned home to Sterling Street, Blackford where he died on 22nd July 1919.
