Robert Hugh Bell was the second son of William James and Annie Bell. He was one of at least eight children. The family lived in Belfast. Robert was married to Margaret Bell. Robert Hugh Bell served with 1 Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment (Lt A.A. Regt) of the Royal Artillery in World War Two. He was mentioned in despatches in 1940. Sergeant Robert Hugh Bell died on 1st November 1943. He was 38 years old. He is buried in St Patrick’s Roman Catholic Churchyard in Maghera.
